Bucks for Ducks – Friday, November 18th, 6:15-8:45pm, 8:45-10:15pm@ Veterans Memorial Center on 203 E 14th St

Bucks for Ducks is the Yolo Basin Foundation’s annual fundraiser.  They are committed to facilitating environmental education in the Yolo Wildlife Area.  A large portion of the funds raised at this event are used to continue their educational program, Discover the Flyway.  Wear your Rotaract shirts!

6:15-8:45pm is Plate and Utensil Clean-up Crew (6-8 Volunteers Needed)

8:45-10:15pm is Room Clean up Crew (12 Volunteers Needed)

Time Off for Caregivers – Saturday, November 19th, 9:40am-3pm @ Senior Center on 646 A Street

Give caretakers a rest and fill in their spots for a day.  Pair up with a senior citizen, enjoy talks, listen to great stories of the past and engage in fun activities throughout the day.  Dress is casual; morning refreshments and lunch are provided.  About 8 Volunteers Needed.

Jelly Belly Factory Tour – Friday, November 11th (Veteran’s Day), 9:00am-1:00pm @ Fairfield

Come join Rotaract for our annual tour of the famous Jelly Belly Factory in Fairfield! We will meet at the Tennis Courts near the MU at 9:00am. Please bring money for gas, at least $2 since we will be carpooling. Also bring extra money if you would like to splurge on jellybeans or for the optional lunch held afterwards. Internship at Novartis: Computational Drug Discovery

These families include many pharmaceutically important drug targets. This one-year internship involves learning to train and employ these models on new and existing drug discovery targets. The ideal candidate would understand the physical properties of organic compounds and proteins, and how they can interact as well as familiarity with computer programming and running scientific calculations.

Training Program with Aspire Public Schools

The Aspire Teacher Residency Program is a teacher training program in collaboration with Aspire Public Schools and University of the Pacific. After the program, Residents earned: CA preliminary teaching credentials, a Master of Arts in Education, a $13,500 stipend for the first year, and full benefits and tuition reimbursement opportunities. Residents who successfully complete the first year receiving priority hiring for a full-time teaching position at Aspire.

Access Leisure Sports

Two leisure sports internship opportunities: Quad Rugby and Sled Hockey. These sports were developed for individuals who have all four limbs of their body affected by their disability. Interns needed for January and February 2012.

Fall Festival Setup – Friday, October 28th, 8am-12pm @ Central Park in Davis

At 8:30am-12pm we will be inflating balloons at the Bike Museum (corner of 3rd and B Streets). At 12pm-3pm, we will be bunching balloons. At 3pm-5pm, we will be putting cornstalks on pillars around the Davis Farmer’s Market.

Instead of serving pie this year, we are running the Harvest Headdresses booth. We will be using wire, ribbons, and flowers to make headdresses.

19th Annual Dia De Los Muertos (DDLM) Pre-Health – Saturday, October 29th, 8am-4:30pm @ UC Davis School of Medicine in Sacramento

Targeting students who are preparing a career in health field (medicine, nursing, dentistry, pharmacy, public health and other health related careers).  The conference consist of admission workshop, motivational speakers, and workshops on special topics such as universal health care, women in health, and health care reforms.  Also free Kaplan courses will be raffled.

Shifa Clinic Internship

The application deadline for Winter 2012 is Friday, November 4th, 2011.

Undergraduate students are given opportunities to take care of reception, health education, pharmacy, and lab duties within the clinic. More experienced students can help manage and organize the clinic.

The internship duration is from October 2011 to April 2011, 7-10 hours per month in Sacramento.
